Meet Siena, born and raised in Canada and a Berlin local since 2015. Since cargo.one was founded, she has been responsible for everything in regards to design. Siena is the touchpoint between business and tech, taking the vision for our product and making it a reality.

What convinced you to join cargo.one?

I was initially convinced to join cargo.one because of the founding team and its mission. Having worked with Mike, Moritz and Oliver previously, I knew that with their combined experience of leading teams and building digital products, I believed we could move an entire industry together. I am always looking to design products that have impact and improve people’s lives, and with cargo.one’s team and mission, I knew this would be possible.

What was your biggest achievement during your time at cargo.one?

One particular point in time that sticks out for me is when we as a team got the notification for the first booking on cargo.one, ever. I remember when I first joined cargo.one, Oliver and I sat down and sketched out the various screens that we envisioned for the first iteration of our product. Fast forward 3 months, we had an engineering team and a live product! This proved that we could move fast and deliver great products, even with a small team in the very beginning.

When thinking of features to build, we constantly have our users in mind and will often validate feature ideas with them. At cargo.one, we make it our goal to build ongoing relationships with our users and luckily, they are always happy to provide constructive feedback.

For those who have never designed a product before, what is the process of building a new product feature?

Once a feature is validated with them, the product team outlines the user flow, designs mockups, and with the help of the engineering team, creates technical specifications and requirements. After the feature has been built, we often test it with our beta users. This helps us ensure that the feature we have built is useful and functions as they expect.

To me cargo.one is:

A team and family that is committed and united towards one common goal, to develop digital products and move the air cargo industry, which traditionally uses manual processes, towards digitalisation. For me, it is a unique opportunity to bring ideas from dreams into reality with a team I completely believe in.
