Passionately championing our industry

In Episode 1, Brendan shares insights into his background and personal journey into the air freight world.  Having started out in baggage at Air Canada, Brendan “soon fell in love” with air cargo. The operational experience he gained over the years is still important to him today.

Moritz and Brendan explore the trajectory of change within the industry. Brendan shares his great admiration and pride for the progress that is being made on many fronts, often boosted by digital transformation: “When we meet with our members, we see how much change there is on a day to day basis”.

“We can do incredible things very fast in this industry…we can do a lot of good things really, really, really quickly with the right imperative”

Brendan Sullivan

Who in the air cargo industry does Brendan think has a particular superpower? He shares all in his episode of cargo.one:one.

A key purpose of IATA is to champion and advocate for the industry, and Brendan remains ambitious around raising the profile of air cargo within society: “Every so often air cargo is pushed to the front and center of everybody's mind...And I think we need to do more work to make sure that it stays front and center”.

Of course, we all share a responsibility to attract the talent of tomorrow into air cargo. Having helped create IATA’s Future Air Cargo Executives (FACE) program, Brendan doubles down on that mission, “Every single job that exists out there in the world exists in Air Cargo. We haven't necessarily translated that in particular to the younger generation.”

Collaboration is key

Brendan is committed to facilitating an air cargo world of shared learning and managed change.

Touching upon many important logistics challenges, Moritz and Brendan consider their personal responsibility to leave the industry better than how they found it. Brendan shares, “Being around, you know, children and you kind of immediately start to think about the future”.

The episode reveals Brendan’s hopes for the years ahead. Building communities and strengthening them in time is clearly a vocation for him. Brendan points to the power of collaboration: “We can bring that community together to make sure that the cutting edge is helping educate the lagging edge and that we have kind people and mentor type organizations throughout everyone's journey”

How does Brendan feel about his legacy in the industry? Tune into Episode 1 now to find out 😉
